Innovative State Employees Honored With Prudential Productivity Awards, Save Taxpayers Thousands

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Today, Florida TaxWatch announced the 2016 Prudential Productivity Award winners at its Tallahassee office. The program, founded by Florida TaxWatch, has been honoring dedicated state employees since 1989. The Prudential Productivity Awards program recognizes and rewards hard-working state employees who develop and implement innovative cost-saving and efficient improvements.

This year, cash and plaque awards will be presented to nearly 605 individuals and teams for their award-winning solutions and productivity improvements that have bettered the Sunshine State. These state workers are the best of the best and we are privileged to recognize their hard work.

“State workers commit themselves to improving the Sunshine State each and everyday, many of whom go beyond the call of duty often without any recognition from government leaders or the very people they serve,” said Florida TaxWatch President and CEO, Dominic M. Calabro. "The Prudential Productivity Awards is the only program in the state that recognizes and honors the achievements of the most productive and innovative employees in Florida state government.”

"The Florida Lottery thanks each of the award winners for their commitment to reducing costs for Florida's hard-working taxpayers while dramatically improving the services that each Floridian depends on,” said Florida Lottery Secretary Tom Delacenserie.

In addition to recognizing the efforts of these award-winning state employees, the program encourages state agencies to work together to replicate these savings. As a direct result of award winners' innovations and their replication, $9 billion worth of added value savings has been applied in state government. Over the program's 28-year history, Florida TaxWatch has discovered more inter-agency cooperation and increased teamwork among award winners to bring savings to Floridians.

Recipients of the Prudential Productivity Awards will be honored during the five statewide ceremonies beginning June 15th with an awards luncheon in Tallahassee, followed by regional awards luncheons in Tampa - June 21st, Miami - June 22nd, Orlando - June 23rd and Jacksonville - June 24th.

The program is a major government improvement initiative chaired by Florida's Lieutenant Governor and co-sponsored by Florida TaxWatch, The Florida Council of 100, and the state of Florida. In addition to Prudential's generous support as the title sponsor, numerous corporate, individual and philanthropic contributors supplement the awards program. Florida TaxWatch wants to thank these generous sponsors of the Prudential Productivity Awards program, including the Florida Lottery, AvMed, Capital Health Plan and Florida Power & Light. Without their tremendous support, this program would not be possible.
