Florida TaxWatch Hosts Annual State of the Taxpayer Dinner

Tallahassee, Fla – Tonight, Florida TaxWatch is hosting its annual State of the Taxpayer Dinner, providing the opportunity for the state’s elected leaders and policymakers to speak directly to the interests of taxpayers. Once again, the event serves as a forum for Cabinet members, legislators, and key leaders to discuss critical issues that are impacting Florida families and businesses.

This year, Florida TaxWatch’s State of the Taxpayer Dinner is being held at Hotel Duval in Tallahassee. Remarks are being offered by Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody, Florida Chief Financial Officer Jimmy Patronis, Florida House Speaker Paul Renner (R-Palm Coast), Florida Sen. Jason Pizzo (D-Hollywood), and Florida Rep. Jennifer Canady (R-Lakeland).

Florida TaxWatch Chairman Piyush Patel said, “Florida TaxWatch’s State of the Taxpayer Dinner convenes some of Florida’s most impactful leaders and decision-makers to discuss kitchen table issues, like reducing taxes, expanding affordable housing opportunities, and increasing access to quality health care, as well as broader topics, such as economic development and contributing to the long-term success of our state. We would like to thank our speakers and attendees for participating in those productive conversations and look forward to engaging our world-class research team to evaluate the thoughts and ideas presented this evening throughout the coming year.”

Florida TaxWatch President and CEO Dominic M. Calabro said, “The annual State of the Taxpayer Dinner is one of Florida TaxWatch’s flagship programs, as it allows us to hear directly from elected officials about their work and the impact on Floridians – right as the legislative session gets underway – helping us fulfill our 40-plus-year responsibility to serve as both the ‘eyes and ears’ of taxpayers and a trusted government watchdog. We will leave this event, like we do every year, with an exhaustive list of takeaways that will wisely advance our 2024 research agenda and allow us to continue advocating for sound fiscal policy and a strong, resilient economy.”
