Babs Taff has been with Florida TaxWatch, a statewide, non-profit, non-partisan government watchdog and research center for Florida taxpayers, since its inception in 1979. During her twenty years with the institution, she has been promoted to office manager, executive assistant, membership director and Senior Vice President for Membership, the position she currently holds.
During her tenure at Florida TaxWatch she has seen the research foundation grow from a staff of two with a budget of $100,000 and a membership base of about 75 to a full-time staff of 11, a budget of $1,785,000 and a membership base of over 1,000.
Working closely with the Florida TaxWatch leadership on membership retention and enhancement, Babs has played an integral role in the growth and effectiveness of the organization.
As Senior Vice President of Membership she is responsible for membership retention and membership marketing development. She acts as liaison to the TaxWatch Executive Committee and Board of Trustees. Ms. Taff is also responsible for coordinating the meetings of the Board of Trustees and Executive Committee meetings as well as any special functions that TaxWatch may hold.
Raised in Tallahassee, Babs attended Florida State University. Before coming to Florida TaxWatch in 1979 she served as the committee secretary for the Finance and Tax Subcommittee of the Florida Senate Appropriations Committee.
Ms. Taff is active in her community. She recently served on the Alumni Board of the Florida State University College of Human Sciences. At the present time, Babs is the Chair of the Leon County Library Advisory Board and the Co-Chair of the Tallahassee Society of Association Executives' Membership Commitee. Ms. Taff is also involved in Springtime Tallahassee, an organization founded to promote the natural, historical and cultural assets of Tallahassee and served as its General Chairman in 1995.
