The Davis Productivity Awards is a privately funded program that recognizes and rewards state government employees whose work measurably increases productivity and promotes innovation.
The awards are made possible by the vision and generosity of the late J.E. Davis and his brother, the late A.D. Davis, co-founders of Winn-Dixie Stores Inc. and co-founders of Florida TaxWatch. Up to $100,000 is provided annually by the Davis Family for cash awards, commemorative plaques and certificates of commendation presented at ceremonies around the state.
This program is a major government improvement initiative sponsored by Florida TaxWatch, The Florida Council of 100 and the State of Florida. In its 11th year, 778 nominations were submitted for individuals and work units that helped save $188 million and brought in an additional $84 million of revenue collected under Florida law for total added value of $272 million. Award winners have produced an 11-year total of $3 billion in added value for Florida taxpayers.
We welcome and encourage all state government employees and private citizens to submit nominations. We look forward to your even greater taxpayer improvements in the year 2000 program.

Adaptable Achievements By Agency
Dear State Employee and Taxpayer:
Florida TaxWatch and The Florida Council of 100 are proud to partner with the State of Florida in sponsoring the Davis Productivity Awards, whose more than 4,500 award recipients have added $3 billion worth of value to citizens and taxpayers alike since 1989.
This following material represents an enhancement to the Davis Productivity Awards program by designating 203 award winning achievements from the 1999 competition which can be duplicated throughout state government, to save as much as $270 million over the next 12 to 18 months. We look forward to further sharing your successes with the leaders in Florida government.
Florida TaxWatch and The Florida Council of 100 greatly appreciate the enthusiasm and support for the Davis Productivity Awards program by Governor Jeb Bush, the Florida Cabinet, Senate President Toni Jennings, House Speaker John Thrasher, members of the Senate and House, agency heads and their staff.
Finally, a special thank you goes to Lt. Governor Frank Brogan for chairing this year's awards program and actively participating in the awards presentations.
Best wishes for continued success.
